ABOUT INDIAN AIR FORCE

The Indian Air Force (IAF), established on 8th October 1932, stands as a symbol of courage, discipline, and unmatched aerial excellence. As the air arm of the Indian Armed Forces, its primary responsibility is to secure Indian airspace and conduct aerial warfare during armed conflicts. With its motto “नभः स्पृशं दीप्तम्” – meaning “Touch the Sky with Glory” – drawn from the Bhagavad Gita, the IAF embodies valor, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the nation.

Over the decades, the IAF has grown into one of the most powerful and technologically advanced air forces in the world. It operates a diverse fleet that includes state-of-the-art fighter jets like the Rafale and Su-30MKI, indigenous aircraft like the Tejas, heavy-lift transport planes such as the C-17 Globemaster, and frontline helicopters including the Apache and Chinook.

The IAF has played a decisive role in multiple wars and humanitarian missions, showcasing its capability not only in warfare but also in disaster relief, rescue operations, and peacekeeping.

Its structure comprises seven commands strategically located across India, ensuring national security through continuous vigilance and rapid deployment.

The Indian Air Force also emphasizes indigenous innovation and self-reliance, with projects like the HAL Tejas, AMCA, and CATS Warrior, reflecting the vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat.” As the guardian of our skies, the IAF inspires generations of young Indians, especially students of Air Force Schools, to dream big, aim high, and serve the nation with pride and honor.
